Ukrainian Evangelical Theological Seminary (Ukraine)
The Ukrainian Evangelical Theological Seminary (UETS) began as a one-month pastoral training seminar in 1992, a year after the fall of the Soviet Union. The VSI team worked with UETS to identify four areas for focusing sustainability efforts. First, in faculty development, UETS plans to sponsor selected teaching staff to complete advanced studies over the next three years and return to lead academic programs. Second, in facilities management, UETS plans to rent out school facilities, which are located strategically in Kyiv, for conferences and workshops. Rental income will enable UETS to develop facilities for more classes, an expanded library, and additional living quarters. Third, in Ukraine, state accreditation of Christian institutions is rare. UETS is at the brink of securing that distinction, which would make it the only state-accredited Evangelical seminary in the country. Finally, UETS plans to develop specialized academic programs to train Church leaders to serve those who have been traumatized by the conflict in Eastern Ukraine.
