Editor’s Note: As one of his first acts as SL’s new president, Christopher Hays established the Ukrainian Relief Fund to help client seminaries during the current crisis. We continue to pray earnestly for our courageous sisters and brothers in Ukraine.

Dear Friends,

It is my joy and privilege to introduce Christopher Hays as our next president. Christopher, an American, comes to us from Medellín, where he served as a professor at the Biblical Seminary of Colombia (FUSBC) and led a program that draws on insights from faith and social sciences to foster recovery of victims of civil war. Christopher is also well-known as a Biblical theologian focused on wealth and equity. Our entire board is impressed by his thoughtful leadership.

Christopher has worked with scholars we support through LeaderStudies. FUSBC is a client of our Vital SustainAbility Initiative. He will be a strong participant in our Catalytic Ventures (Islam and Women in Theological Leadership) and has much to contribute to the InSights Journal. He also has promising ideas for new ways in which we might enable our Majority World clients as they serve the Global Church.

Please join me in welcoming Christopher and his family.

With appreciation for your partnership in this ministry,

We give thanks to God for bringing ScholarLeaders and Christopher together after a long search process. We also give thanks for the diligent work of the search committee, which was composed of board members dedicated to ScholarLeaders’ long-term well-being.

Let us join in prayer for Christopher and his family, and for ScholarLeaders and our clients, in this time of transition:

  • Pray for Christopher, his wife Michelle, and their three children as they establish a new home in the US after 16 years abroad. Pray for them as they settle into North Carolina.

  • Pray for Christopher to steward FUSBC’s Faith and Displacement project faithfully to a successful conclusion over the course of 2022. Pray for Michelle as she seeks to join a ministry serving migrants and refugees in the Raleigh-Durham area. Pray for Judah (17), Asher (13), and Zoe (9) as they adjust to new schools and make new friends.

  • Pray for Christopher to know God’s blessing in his new role with ScholarLeaders, to be filled with wisdom and grace, and to lead with freedom and joy.

  • Pray for God to bless the ScholarLeaders ministry and our many clients around the world through Christopher’s leadership.

  • Pray for Christopher and the rest of the ScholarLeaders team as we get to know one another and learn to work together. Pray for God to unite our hearts and minds in discernment and passion for Christ’s Church throughout the world.

Thank you for your faithful intercession!
