A Strategic Partnership to Better Serve the Global Church

On September 1, 2025, Scholar Leaders and reSource Leadership International announced a joint ministry agreement. In addition, reSource elected a new president, Christopher M. Hays.

These two organizations — founded within four years of each other in separate countries — have now resolved to deepen their friendship to maximize the fruitfulness of their shared visions and work in the Majority World.

Hays will serve as president of both organizations as they partner on programs, collaborate on fundraising, and combine offices for greater efficiency.

The two organizations have shared ties from their beginnings thanks to their parallel focus on global theological education. reSource Leadership International, originally called OC Canada, was founded in 1979 as a Canadian affiliate of Overseas Council of Theological Education and Mission. Scholar Leaders, initially the Christian International Scholarship Foundation, was established in 1983 by three Presbyterian clergy, two of whom served as assistants to John Stott.

This partnership is not a legal merger, as reSource will continue as a Canadian non-profit and maintain its own board. Peter DenHaan, who has been president of reSource since 2013, will continue as President Emeritus.

“I think personally that this might be one of the most, if not the most, pivotal moments in the history of reSource,“ DenHaan commented. He thanked reSource partners for their “willingness to pray, and to fund, and to encourage, and to work alongside us.”

News of the partnership quickly reached Christian leaders in the Majority World. “Hallelujah, praise be to God! What a heartwarming and truly uplifting piece of news,” wrote Sunday Agang, an author and professor in Nigeria. “This new collaborative partnership is a testimony to God’s hand at work in bringing His people and institutions together for Kingdom impact,” Agang commented.
