ScholarLeaders International exists to encourage and enable Christian theological leaders from the Majority World for the Global Church.
…encourage and enable
We fund advanced education, help leaders return home after study, provide seed money for their ministry initiatives, create venues and opportunities for sharing ideas, connect leaders to one another for counsel and support, and offer our skills in strategic planning. We do not direct, but only support leaders – holistically, prayerfully, and financially.
We follow Jesus and hope to contribute to his Church as it extends God’s love to all creation.
Regardless of title or degree, these include:
- Teachers who educate and mentor pastors, missionaries, and other Christian workers;
- Theologians who prophetically call fellow believers to deeper faith and stronger witness, and challenge both Church and society;
- Entrepreneurs who initiate and develop theologically sound ministries; and
- Executives who lead schools of theology and other ministries.
…from the Majority World
Our focus is on Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, and Eastern Europe – under-resourced regions where the Church is often growing rapidly amidst extreme poverty, oppression, health crises, and even civil war and other armed conflict.
…for the Global Church.
Brothers and sisters from the Majority World inspire all believers as they remain faithful in challenging circumstances, finding innovative ways to serve as Christian leaders.
Our ministry is:
Instead of importing resources, we invest in leaders equipped to build up the Church and influence society in their distinctive contexts. We cultivate relationships of interdependency, not dependency.
Founded over 30 years ago, ScholarLeaders has sponsored 250+ leaders for advanced education (LeaderStudies), helped them return home and reengage in ministry (PressOn), promoted publications that amplify Majority World voices (InSights), created the InSights Journal for Global Theological Education, connected exceptional leaders with opportunities to share their work (ScholarLeader of the Year), provided spaces for Majority World leaders to counsel and support one another (PeerLeader Forum), and worked closely with executives at leading schools of theology on long-range planning and faculty development to enable Vital SustainAbility.
Among the most edifying aspects of our work is the cooperative spirit shared with our partners. Executives and faculty from leading schools of theology in Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, and Eastern Europe work closely with us to guide investments. We count it a privilege to collaborate with colleagues at Overseas Council, Theological Book Network, the Langham Partnership, and other global ministries. Foundation executives and donors regularly contribute ideas. Faculty at Fuller Theological Seminary and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School have been instrumental guides.
Our staff is small, dispersed yet well-connected via technology, and highly dedicated to serving Majority World leaders.
ScholarLeaders International is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit ministry.
